Last year, the town of Matewan brought the community together for the Magnolia Fair Festival, which featured a variety of attractions, vendors, and activities– including the Magnolia Fair Festival Pageant. This year, the pageant will once again be a highlight during the fair.
The Little Miss Magnolia Pageant, for ages newborn to 12, will take place on Thursday, June 16. For this event, required attire has been switched to denim bottoms with a solid colored t-shirt, in order for judges to focus on the person rather than her clothes. Miss Magnolia, for ages 13 and up will take place on Saturday, June 18th, alongside new categories for women ages 30-39, 40-and over, and the Mrs. category.
Empowering Women!
Pageant Director Amy Dearfield-Hannah has a little over 25 years of experience in the pageant world as a competitor, director, and pageant coach. Amy also directed the 2021 Magnolia Fair Festival Pageant, and is excited to be directing the event again this year. She hopes that it gives women in the area a way to celebrate and empower one another.
“We think that women should be proud of themselves and their accomplishments,” Amy says. “This pageant gives us a moment to celebrate women empowering other women. We all shine when we lift up each other!”
