Are You Ready for Father's Day?

June 21, 2020 is a special day to celebrate one of the most special men in your life-- Dad! If you’re looking for ideas on how to show dad you care this Father’s Day, you’ve come to the right place. Williamson Forward has put together a list of ways you can show dad you care while supporting local businesses and enjoying local sites.

For the Outdoorsy Dad

If your dad enjoys nothing more than spending time in nature, then there are plenty of ways to celebrate with him in Williamson. If he enjoys fishing, why not check out Friends of the Tug Fork River? This Facebook group is full of folks from throughout the region, and has many tips about the best spots to fish along the river.

If your dad prefers hiking, the Tug Valley CVB offers a guide to the best hiking spots around Williamson. A couple of these spots would be a great location for a picnic, if you’d like to combine dinner and a hike.

Gifts for Dad

If you’d rather buy dad a gift or gift certificate, there are plenty of options in town. The Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce offers online shopping, and if your dad is a handy guy, a gift card from Local Lumber and Supply would be a great idea!

For the dad that has everything, dinner out would be the perfect gift! We have lots of choices in the area, so you won’t have a problem treating dad to a delicious dinner. Starter's Sports Bar & Grillor Sazon Mexican Restaurant in Williamson, The Steakhouse at the South Side Mall, Big Mamas BBQ & Southern Fixins in Matewan, Trail 12 BBQ in Gilbert, Cheech's Pizza & Restaurant in Lenore, the list goes on and on!

Of course, you don’t have to be fancy or spend a lot of money to show dad you care. If you prefer the homemade route, you could always cook him his favorite meal or write him a note telling him how much you care or sharing a special memory of the two of you. No matter what you do, if it’s from the heart, he’ll love it.

Happy Father’s Day!
