April is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month.
The Annual Child Abuse Prevention Walk, hosted by the Mingo County Partners in Prevention and Mingo County Family Resource Network, will be held on Thursday, April 13th at 12:00pm. The walk begins in front of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources office on 3rd Avenue in downtown Williamson. The walk route continues down 3rd Avenue to the corner of 3rd and Harvey Street where it will take a left turn by 3 Guys Pizza & Brew going to 2nd Avenue, and after another left the walk will continue to and end in front of the Mingo County Courthouse.
Mingo County FRN Executive Director Amy Dearfield-Hannah says, “This walk is an opportunity to show support and raise awareness around child abuse prevention. Our hope is that individuals do not only recognize the need for awareness during April and that they will be engaged with positive interventions within their communities.”
Come be a part of this awareness walk! All are welcome to participate to show their support of raising awareness for CAP month. Participants are also encouraged to wear blue, the awareness color for CAP month.
