On Saturday, December 14, kids in Williamson were treated to breakfast with some special guests: Santa Claus and the Grinch!
Helping Kids Use their Imagination
The event, which took place at the Southside Mall, was the result of a collaboration between mall management and the I Can 2 program. The I Can 2 program, run by Heather Wolford, is designed to “give children in our community free events to play, create, and use their imagination.”
Family Fun
This was I Can 2’s first time working with the mall for a children’s event, and it was certainly a success: 58 kids and their families enjoyed breakfast with Santa before making jingle bell bracelets and reindeer food with Heather. They also played games like “pin the heart on the grinch”, candy cane fishing, and a reindeer ring toss.
Heather enjoyed bringing families together for some holiday fun. “My favorite part of helping is seeing family involvement and happy children,” she says. She hasn’t yet planned I Can 2’s next event, but Heather hopes to do something that will encourage the kids’ creativity. “I want to do something that involves reading and creating your own story.”
