Running for a Cause
Since 2013, the Tug Valley Road Runners Club (TVRRC) has hosted a yearly run as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, and they won’t let the pandemic stop them in 2020. The Colors of HOPE Virtual 15K, 5K and 1 Mile Walk will allow folks to run for the fight against cancer however they please--“in their neighborhoods, trails, walking paths, and even on a treadmill,” says club president Alexis Batausa.
Those who wish to participate can do so on their own time. They have the option to spread out their miles over days instead of doing them all at once. “We have distances of 15K, 5K, and 1 mile,” Alexis says. This is giving folks who want to run or walk plenty of options. Although the race will be completed virtually, participants will still receive a finisher medal and shirt. Proceeds from the race will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
Anyone who wishes to participate can register via the Facebook event page. Runners are encouraged to share their progress with other participants on the event page. Registration is open until August 31, so there is plenty of time to get your miles in!
