Putting the Spotlight on Those Who Help the Kids
For more than 15 years, Mingo County Partners in Prevention have been recognizing Champions for Children. Mingo County Family Resource Network Executive Director Amy Dearfield-Hannah shared some information about these awards. .
In anticipation of the upcoming Champions for Children Awards, nominations are currently being accepted. “We accept nominations from the community for any individual, business, or organization that goes above and beyond for our local children and families,” Amy says.
These nominations will be voted on by the Partners In Prevention Committee and Mingo County Family Resource Network Board. Amy encourages anyone that submits a nomination to be as detailed as possible. “It doesn’t have to be an essay,” she says, “we just need the specific details.”
Those recognized as Champions for Children will be honored during a special event. “In the past, we recognized champions during the Child Abuse Prevention Month flag raising ceremony at the Mingo County Courthouse, but we decided a few years ago to give the awards ceremony its own event,” Amy Dearfield Hannah says.
Nominations can be sent to Amy Dearfield Hannah via Facebook messenger, or to frndirector@hotmail.com. Deadline for nominations is April 1st.
