Pumpkin Pie, Sweet Potatoes, and Casseroles, Oh My! According to the Calorie Count Council, Americans take in 3,000 to 4,000 calories during their Thanksgiving celebrations. We might tell ourselves holiday calories don’t count, but they kind of do! What are we to do? How about a group run on Thanksgiving morning with the Tug Valley Road Runners Club?
Earn It Before You Eat It is part of the annual Holiday Group Run Series presented by the TVRCC. This group run is the first of three-holiday themed group runs in the Holiday Road Runners Series. On Thanksgiving Day, participants will meet at 6:45 a.m. in South Williamson, Kentucky in the former Custom Print and Design Parking Lot. Runners and walkers will be offered a 1 to 7-mile course depending on what they want to do. The group run is free unless you want to pay $15.00 to cover the cost of a run themed T-shirt. Yes, that’s right! It’s free!
After you get your miles in you will be ready to start enjoying all those delicious Thanksgiving Day foods, with a lot less calorie worry! Healthline.Com notes the general rule of thumb is, you burn 100 calories per each 1-mile run. Okay, let's do the math. The average piece of pumpkin pie is around 300 calories. What to do? Get up, run 3 miles, and earn that piece of pie!!!
Whatever you decide to do that morning, the most important thing is to have a Happy Thanksgiving!
