Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day 2023!

Making the World A Better Place

The first ever Earth Day was on April 22, 1970, and it was the result of tireless efforts on organizers’ part to encourage people of all ages across the nation to get involved in protecting planet Earth. Since then, Earth Day has become something acknowledged internationally, and its reach grows with every year.

There are a variety of ways you can show support for the Earth Day Cause, no matter who you are or what you do. Individual actions in day-to-day life can be one way to help protect the planet. Everyone knows you can reduce, reuse and recycle to limit your own carbon footprint, but there are other little steps you can take. Starting a compost bin would be a great way to reduce how much you send to landfills, and you can use the results in your garden in the coming years.

Keeping our Planet Clean

Picking up trash is another great way to celebrate Earth Day, all while keeping your community clean. You can start in your own neighborhood, or even hit one of the many natural recreation areas in the Williamson area to keep our nature beautiful.

Spreading information to those around you by putting the spotlight on petitions and organizations is another great way to show your support easily. There are many different causes under the umbrella of environmental concern, from littering and pollution, to protecting endangered species, so take your pick– and then take the time to learn, on your own or with others.

There are also plenty of lifestyle changes you can make to help the environment. These little things might not be finished on Earth Day, but it’s surely a good time to start. Try reducing the amount of meat you eat! Even if an all-veggie lifestyle isn’t for you, meat-free Mondays are an easy way to reduce your impact on the environment. Choosing to shop secondhand when you can is another little thing you can do– and it’s easy on the wallet!

There are countless ways to show your support on Earth Day. What will you choose?
