A Chance to Support Local Creators
On Saturday, August 17, creators in Williamson will have a chance to support their favorite local artists, musicians, and artisans at the first-ever Love Williamson Celebration. This celebration of the culture in Williamson will include a marketplace featuring local vendors and artists selling a variety of handmade crafts and goods. Restaurants in downtown Williamson will create special 3-course menus exclusively for this celebration, and local businesses and landmarks will take part in an artistic walking experience.
A Spotlight for Arts & Culture
Wes Wilson, the managing director of the Tug Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau describes the event as “a spotlight for arts and culture in various forms.” Throughout the day, local musicians will be performing, and a “musical petting zoo” will take place at the Cinderella Theater Building. Here, kids and adults alike will have the chance to see and touch instruments they may not have seen before. Of course, musicians will be around to demonstrate how they work.
Activities including face-painting and chalk art will also fill the streets. The day will conclude with a free showing of family-classic “The Goonies”. The movie will be projected onto the wall of City Insurance, and folks in town are encouraged to sit on the flood-wall for the best seats.
