Right now, it’s easy to get caught up in the negatives. Between COVID-19 and the 2020 election, it feels like everywhere you look, there’s something to worry about or dwell upon. That’s why it's so important to remember the little things matter-- one small act of kindness can make someone’s day just as easy as a thoughtless word can break them down. Now more than ever, folks need National Do Something Nice Day!
Showing Friends and Family You Care
National Do Something Nice Day is celebrated on October 5th each year and it is exactly what it sounds like-- a day to celebrate acts of kindness, big and small. To celebrate, why not reach out to someone in your life you haven’t talked to in a while? Calling your grandma or sending a text to that friend you haven’t seen since March is a great way to remind people that you care.
Another great way to show a little extra kindness to the people in your life is to try to pay everyone in your life one genuine compliment today. Tell them what you admire most about them, or your favorite memory of them, just to remind them that they matter!
Passing it On To the Community, and Beyond!
National Do Something Nice Day isn’t just for the people you’re closest to! You could also try paying it forward at a drive-thru or restaurant, by offering to pay for the meal of the person behind you in the line. Try looking for little things you can do in your community like picking up trash along your favorite trail, or bake a treat to share with a neighbor.
If you’re concerned with larger scale issues, why not donate to a cause close to your heart? Whether you’re donating to find a cure for cancer, to save stray kitties, or to help at risk youth, even a few dollars can help your cause of choice! If you don’t have the cash, donating gently used clothes to a women’s shelter or charity, or volunteering your time are also great choices!
There are so many ways you could celebrate National Do Something Nice Day, but no matter how you celebrate, Williamson Forward hopes you enjoy doing something nice today and every day!
