November 13th is #WorldKindnessDay

Since 1998, the World Kindness Movement has been encouraging people to be kind to themselves, to others, and to the world around them with World Kindness Day. World Kindness Day has occurred every November 13 since then, and it is still a great day to take the time to acknowledge that kindness can change the world.

Random Acts of Kindness

World Kindness Day is all about treating the people around you with kindness, so the best way to celebrate is to take the time to treat those around you with a little extra kindness. Take a moment to practice some random acts of kindness. There are plenty of examples of random acts of kindness on the website.

Our favorite ideas are to compliment a stranger on something, be it their smile or their parking, to reply to someone’s social media posts with something friendly, and to make it a point to be extra nice to your server while grabbing lunch or coffee.

Take Some Me-Time

If you’re looking to do something a little more personal, that’s not out of the question. Connect with the people around you, and think about ways you can show them a little extra kindness. Make some cookies and share with a neighbor, offer to help your coworker by picking up their favorite beverage, or spend some time with your parents, kids, or significant other.

World Kindness Day isn’t just about treating the people around you with some extra love-- it’s also a day to show yourself some kindness. Take the time to meditate or practice a favorite hobby. If you’re the journaling type, why not open to a fresh page and spend time listing your goals, or writing ways you could be kinder to yourself?

If you want to do a little more to celebrate World Kindness Day, there are other things you can do. Look for a local organization in need of volunteers or donations, and help out! Helping those in need, no matter who they are, is always a great way to give back to the world around you.
