Teaching Young Artists a New Way to Paint
If you have kids and are planning to hit the Williamson Farmers Market ,you might want to consider getting there from 10 am to 11 am on Saturday, June 6th. The first Kids Club event of the year at the market will be Painting at the Market! Organizers will teach kids how to “paint using vegetables as the ‘paintbrush’ so to speak,” says Williamson Health and Wellness Community Resource Network Director Amy Hannah.
This will be the second year that they have hosted Painting at the Market. Previously, they taught kids to paint using okra. This year, they plan to try painting using bell peppers, and stamps made from potatoes. Marketing and Nutrition Manager for Williamson Health Wellness, Kristen DeBoard notes due to social distancing guidelines, organizers plan to work with two kids at a time so kids can stay the recommended 6 feet apart from one another.
At the moment, planning for future kids’ events is on hold, and Kristin says that they are “playing it by ear” when deciding how to plan future events and activities. For now, if you are interested in bringing your kids to the Painting at the Market, visit their Facebook page for more details.
