Running to 2021!!!

2020 has been a crazy year for all of us, and most of us are plenty excited to escape into 2021, even if we can’t celebrate as we normally do. If you’d like to safely celebrate the new year while getting a start on those healthy living goals, take a look at the Run Into the New Year group run hosted by the Tug Valley Road Runners Club.

“It’s a 5k, and you’re running from 2020 into the New Year, 2021,” says Rudy Mancuso Jr., a member of the club. “That’s what makes it really unique.” The race started in 2015, and organizers hoped to change how folks celebrate the new year. “People usually spend New Years at home, and we figured a different experience of running from the present into the future of the new year, would be popular,” Rudy says.

This run is part of the TVRRC’s Group Run Holiday Series, which has been a success despite COVID-19. “Numbers are much lower due to COVID-19,” Rudy says, “but folks are still showing up for races, and they plan to carry on”.

Run Into the New Year will start at the Williamson Field House. Registration will be open from 10:30pm-11:30pm and the event will begin at 11:40pm. This is a free run.

Check out the Tug Valley Road Runners Club Facebook event page for additional information and updates. Whether you celebrate the new year by running or by counting down to midnight at home, we are hopeful that 2021 will run a little more smoothly.
