On Saturday, February 15th the 7th annual Cause for Paws 10K/5K/1 Mile Walk presented by the Tug Valley Road Runners Club returns! Participants are encouraged to bring their furry friends to join them for this popular race!
To Help
This race is a fundraiser for Save Our Stray (SOS) Animal rescue located in Mingo County, West Virginia. Save Our Strays is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization in Mingo County, West Virginia. As a member of the Tug Valley Road Runners Club and animal lover, Leigh Ann Ray serves as race director for Cause for Paws.
“We have enjoyed working with SOS over the years,” Ray says. “Their organization is a vital part of our community. Thanks to their efforts and cooperation with the Mingo County Humane Office and other local rescue groups, no animals were euthanized at the Mingo County Animal Control Facility in 2018 or 2019.”
In Memory Of
This year the race will be dedicated to the late Steve Baisden. Steve was an avid supporter of the Tug Valley Road Runners Club, participating in nearly all their races each year. Steve was a friend to everyone he met, including animals.
“Steve ran every TVRRC race and had a heart of gold. He always supported our races-no matter the cause. He has left a void,” says Leigh Ann.
Steve’s widow, Susan Baisden tells us, “It’s a great honor for this race to be dedicated to Steve. He loved participating in the TVRRC races, and loved the purpose of this particular race. It was this month last year Steve passed away, and I cannot think of any better way to remember him.”
