Jalapeño Cranberry Sauce
There are so many things to love about the holiday season. From exchanging gifts with loved ones to enjoying festive tunes, movies, and books, there is so much to enjoy, and that includes the food. Whether you enjoy a more traditional Christmas dinner or prefer to change things up, pretty much everyone cooks up something delicious on Christmas. If you’re looking for some last minute ideas for your Christmas or Christmas Eve meal, you’ve come to the right place! This jalapeno cranberry sauce from allrecipes is a great twist on a holiday classic, and will go great as a side, or even on ice cream or sandwiches if you have leftovers!
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 12 ounce bag of cranberries, rinsed and drained.
3 jalapeno peppers, minced
2 teaspoons lemon juice
½ cup sherry
How to Make:
Start by mixing water and sugar over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is boiling.
Add cranberries, jalapeno peppers, and lemon juice and return to boil.
Reduce heat to simmer and cook until sauce thickens and cranberries break down. (10-25 min)
Add sherry and remove from heat.
Let cool, transfer to glass container, and refrigerate until ready to serve.
The spice level for this recipe should be pretty mild, but if you want to kick it up a notch, include some of the jalapeno seeds. This recipe is a delicious alternative to plain ol cranberry sauce, and who knows? You might find yourself cooking it up once the holidays are over, as well.
